Content Creator Spotlight - Phoenix

Hi Commanders,

This new series will shine the spotlight on our beloved Content Creators.

From the ashes of war, raises Phoenix!

1-Can you introduce yourself to the community?
Phoenix:
Hello everyone! Most people know me by the nickname “Phoenix”, and for my close friends in the Discord community I’m simply “Grandpa Phoenix.” A few years ago, I used to play World of Tanks, and I played it at a very high level — you could even say almost professionally. But over time, too many reasons piled up for me to leave the game, and I’d rather not go into them since that’s not what this is about. After some time, the big question came up: “What should I play now?” The answer came almost immediately. Before tanks, I used to casually enjoy RTS strategy games like Generals and Stronghold Crusader, and I always loved that feeling of personally controlling the entire battle on the map. That sense of full control over the battlefield was something I truly missed in team-based games. Another major reason that led me to WWA was that I wanted to stop spending so much time sitting at a computer, since I know it isn’t great for health. I tried a huge number of mobile strategy games and eventually came across WWA, which had only recently launched at the time. I immediately realized: this is exactly what I needed. Back then there was nothing really like it, and honestly, even now I wouldn’t say the mobile RTS segment has many real competitors. After playing for a while and seeing that I was doing well, I decided to start my YouTube channel and share replays, because I personally love watching other people’s WWA replays. I thought other players might enjoy watching mine too. Now, not only is WWA my hobby, but so is my YouTube channel.

2-Why did you join the CC program?
Phoenix:
I joined the Content Creator program because support is motivating for any person. For all these years, what truly motivated me was the understanding that I was helping players gain a deeper understanding of the game. But of course, taking care of Grandpa Phoenix is a good thing too!
(You can find all the details about my codes in the comments and in the descriptions of my replays)

3-What’s your favorite nation in WWA?
Phoenix:
I don’t really have one absolute favorite nation, because every nation in the game is completely unique, with its own strengths, weaknesses, unique units, and gameplay style. That said, if I had to choose one slightly above the others, it would be USA. Not because I’m attached to one faction ideologically, but because fast-paced gameplay fits me perfectly. When playing a fast nation, you can often compensate for weaker unit strength with speed and tempo, especially if your opponent’s units are stronger.

4-What’s your favorite unit?
Phoenix:
That’s a difficult one. As a man, I have to admit I really like the female sniper’s voice lines and her legendary skin But speaking as a player, every unit in the game has its own purpose, and that’s what makes them all interesting. Still, there’s a special group of units that always makes me smile: the British Royals, Goliath, and MINI. I think everyone understands why.

5-What kind of strategy do you tend to use in WWA?
Phoenix:
Those who watch my replays already know that my core strategy is deep defensive play. I focus on holding positions as hard as possible until the opponent spends all their strength on attacks, and only then do I rapidly seize the initiative. At the same time, I create many traps. The main objective is to drain the opponent economically and prepare the perfect moment for the decisive strike.

6-If you had one piece of advice for new players?
Phoenix:
Before upgrading your deck and strengthening your units, my advice would be simple: join the Discord and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t listen to people who spread negativity — there are always enough of those. For true RTS fans, this game can be incredibly rewarding, especially if you build your foundation correctly from the very beginning.

7-If you could create your own unit, what would it be?
Phoenix:
If I could decide what to add to the game, of course I’d love to see legendary WWII tanks like the Tortoise (A39), IS-2, or the Japanese super-heavy O-I, but what interests me even more are tactical gameplay mechanics. I’d really like to see more defensive structures, barriers, anti-tank obstacles, and hedgehog traps that could make even the strongest tanks almost helpless. That way, a player with a much weaker deck could still outplay a stronger opponent through strategy and have a real chance to win. But if I think bigger, what I’d truly love is a unit-building hybrid. For example, Germany had rocket technology projects during WWII, so imagine a missile tower that could be built anywhere on the map. Once placed, the enemy would also see it, including the timing of when the devastating rocket strike is ready. This would create a tense tactical layer where the opponent has a chance to destroy the tower before launch. Other nations could receive their own unique superweapons for balance, each with different effects. I think this would make the gameplay far more intense, exciting, and strategic. It would be even better if this unit-building could also be upgraded.

8-Anything else you want to add?
Phoenix:
Subscribe to the channel if you want to understand how to defeat that annoying opponent — the one who keeps matching against you over and over and doesn’t even let you build your KV-2 for revenge… or at least lose with dignity
Never give up. Keep improving. This game gives you endless opportunities to grow, and there are truly no limits. See you on the battlefield!
